The water feared the ocean―
“What if I were to lose myself?”
“You would”, assured the ocean.
“You would lose who you are now.”
“But you would also find yourself―
Who you have been, in your being;
And where you have always belonged.”
And so, the water lost itself therein.
In the mighty depths, it was no more.
Only the ocean remained, indivisibly.
In the forgetfulness of the finite,
There lay a memory of the infinite.
The water forgot that it was once water:
And remembered that it was but the ocean.
